The Situation
Sarel is Israel's largest supplier of products and services for the healthcare industry, primarily hospitals. Sarel also serves as a central purchasing and distribution agency, providing its customers with a comprehensive range of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies and sophisticated technological services.

The Challenge
Sarel was commissioned to assume full responsibility for purchase management and supply at nine hospitals in Israel.

The Response
The project included computerization of the warehouse floor, management of storage areas (cooling, freezing, pharmaceuticals, general medical, quarantine) as well as definition and implementation of work procedures within the warehouse. The WMS computerized customer-service configuration provides an up to date (online) inventory status, expiry dates and forecasts within a windows-based environment. The system enables warehouse employees using mobile RF terminals to receive and respond to orders online and to shorten time to delivery

The Result
Since the beginning of 2000, this state-of-the-art warehouse has been managed by SpaceLogic's advanced FlowX Warehouse Management System (WMS). The warehouse is prepared for emergency situations and is ready to import pharmaceuticals from overseas within 48 hours. From 2001, the level of inventory reliability has been dramatically increased to 99.99%.
